At the Honor Magic8 China launch event, Honor surprised audiences with a bold new concept device called the “Robot Phone.” The futuristic prototype blurs the line between smartphone and companion device, integrating a camera module capable of movement and environmental awareness.

The Robot Phone features a rear camera mounted on a dedicated gimbal, allowing it to track and observe its surroundings. Based on the teaser video shared by Honor, the device can also interact intelligently with its environment, hinting at AI-powered object recognition and contextual awareness.

Beyond its autonomous movement, the camera can capture photos of users from multiple angles — effectively turning it into a smart photographer that adjusts and frames shots dynamically for more creative results.
Design-wise, the concept leans into robotic personality and motion, positioning the phone as not just a tool, but a personal AI companion.
Honor teased that it plans to showcase the Robot Phone in full at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, which typically takes place between February and March. Until then, the concept offers a glimpse into Honor’s vision of the future, where AI-driven hardware transforms smartphones into living, responsive devices.
