Disney+ Hotstar Rebrands to Disney+ in Malaysia Starting October 9
AF
Disney has announced that beginning October 9, Hulu will officially replace Star as its global general entertainment brand. Alongside this change, Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia will be rebranded simply as Disney+ on the same date.

For local subscribers, this rebrand comes with a significant content boost. Disney confirmed that more Hulu titles will be integrated into the service, spanning U.S., Korean, and Japanese shows. Upcoming highlights include All’s Fair, Would You Marry Me, The Manipulated, and Wandance, which will join existing hits like Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Shōgun, High Potential, Tempest, Nine Puzzles, The Judge from Hell, A Shop for Killers, Moving, and Gannibal.
Aside from the branding shift and expanded catalog, nothing else changes for subscribers. The streaming service will still be available at RM24.90 per month for the Basic plan and RM39.90 per month for Premium, with quarterly and annual payment options also available.
The rebrand aligns with Disney’s global strategy of unifying its platforms under more recognizable banners while enhancing regional offerings. For Malaysian audiences, this means not only a refreshed Disney+ identity but also a broader mix of international content under one roof.
