Threads, Meta’s social platform under Instagram, has started displaying advertisements to users in Malaysia.

Previously, Meta had been testing ads in select countries, and the feature is now being extended to the local market. On Threads, ads appear within the timeline in the same format as regular posts but are clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Iklan” to differentiate them from organic content.
This move marks another step in Meta’s broader monetization strategy for Threads, which has quickly grown into one of the company’s most important social platforms. Meta before this announced that Meta already have more than 400 million active users monthly.
