Apple has officially refreshed its most compact tablet with the launch of the new iPad mini, bringing an OLED display, Apple’s latest A20 Pro silicon, IP67 water and dust resistance, and a refined chassis.

The headline upgrade is the 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel, which expands the screen area while retaining the exact same overall footprint as its predecessor. The shift to OLED delivers a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio with peak brightness topping out at 1,200 nits, along with a ultra-low 1-nit minimum brightness for dark-room reading. Apple is also offering a nano-texture glass option on the iPad mini for the first time to help minimize reflections.
Under the hood, the A20 Pro chip delivers up to 60% faster multithreaded CPU performance, up to 2.7x faster graphics, and up to 4.5x faster AI processing over the previous model. On the top-tier 512GB variant, a Dual 16-core Neural Engine doubles the processing power to better handle heavy on-device AI tasks.

Audio sees a complete redesign via a new Acoustic Display system. It pairs specialized woofers mounted through the display assembly for punchier low-end response with custom tweeters tucked between the glass and aluminum enclosure for crisp highs.
For optics, the 12MP Center Stage front camera has finally relocated to the landscape edge for more natural eye contact on video calls, while the 12MP Wide rear camera adds an Adaptive True Tone flash and 4K video recording up to 60fps.

Wireless connectivity is driven by Apple’s new custom N1 chip, bringing support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Cellular configurations receive the C2 modem, promising up to 50% faster data speeds with improved power efficiency, alongside smoother Wi-Fi-to-cellular handoffs supported by iPadOS 27.
The new iPad mini comes in Midnight and Starlight finishes, with local pricing starting at RM2,999 for the Wi-Fi model and RM3,699 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant. Available storage tiers include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB, with education pricing starting from RM2,779.
Pre-orders open in Malaysia on October 29 with units shipping out on 6 November.
