HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 7.2, “Hour of Ruin,” will officially launch on 4 November. The upcoming update brings together representatives from all seven nations in a historic gathering in Snezhnaya to confront a looming crisis, alongside a massive regional expansion and two new playable characters.
The new Archon Quest centres on the most sweeping coalition the game has seen to date. As violent energy fluctuations from the Nails of Retribution trigger the Holy Soil phenomenon across each nation and plunge them into crisis, the Tsaritsa convenes a historic gathering in Snezhnaya, summoning representatives from all seven nations to coordinate containment efforts.
Players will join forces with the Archons, Neuvillette and allies from across Teyvat to confront the escalating threat. Completing the Archon Quest within the designated period rewards 560 Primogems and Ascension Materials for Mitya, while tackling the latest Secret Tsarist Assignments yields additional rewards including a Snezhnaya-themed Wind Glider.

A new region in eastern Snezhnaya opens for exploration this version. Boarding the railway to Novokitezhgrad, Snezhnaya’s main producer of Kresnik Kristall, players descend into a city built entirely underground and encased in crystal, standing in sharp contrast to the frozen world above. Further east, Wingspan Peak leads to Old Kitezhgrad, Snezhnaya’s original city founded by the Belyi Tsar.
New Prime Ice Constructs and two elemental shotguns serve as tools for neutralising contaminated Kresnik Kristall deposits as part of Snezhnaya’s response to the Holy Soil crisis. New Meeting Point quests follow Danica on a clandestine assignment in Novokitezhgrad and Mitya investigating the soil near Teplo Oasis, their paths converging unexpectedly. A colossal deep-sea creature also awaits challengers in Novokitezhgrad.

Mitya joins the playable roster as a five-star Electro Catalyst wielder. While in the party, he converts the team’s Superconduct reactions into Stellar-Conduct reactions, boosting the entire party’s Stellar-Conduct damage while accumulating special energy. His Elemental Skill can either be pressed to release that stored energy as periodic Stellar-Conduct damage to nearby enemies, or held to consume it for a rapid flurry of enhanced Charged Attacks, allowing him to shift between off-field and on-field roles.
His Elemental Burst deals AoE Electro damage and regenerates special energy to sustain his rotations. In certain areas of Snezhnaya, his detection device also helps uncover hidden paths and unlocks a reward that can alter his appearance.

Joining him is Valeriy, a four-star Electro Sword wielder and Major of the Armory Palace who provides shields and boosts Electro damage, particularly within Stellar-Conduct reaction teams. The first-half Event Wishes pair Mitya and Valeriy’s debuts with a rerun of Furina, while the second half brings back Zibai and Linnea alongside a new Chronicled Wish featuring select Natlan characters.
A new limited-time event tied to the Archon Quest unites players with allies from Mondstadt to Snezhnaya in a coordinated stand against the Holy Soil phenomenon, tasking them with rescuing wounded soldiers, relaying critical intel and completing urgent assignments. Completing objectives rewards Primogems, enhancement materials and the choice of a four-star character.

A Quick Start feature lets players jump in without completing the quest first, and the area remains explorable even after the event ends. Additional events include a filming event in Snezhnaya and a mining challenge in Natlan. Miliastra Wonderland also receives a new masquerade-themed lobby, a free four-star cosmetic set and expanded stage editing tools.
