Proton S70 Lite and Prime Officially Launched, Starting From RM56,800

Proton has officially launched the 2026 S70 Lite and Prime variants, following the opening of bookings on 7 September which generated more than 10,000 bookings in two weeks. Both variants are now on sale at authorised Proton outlets nationwide.

The two new variants expand the S70 family with a naturally aspirated i-GT 1.5-litre engine paired with a CVT with torque converter, prioritising a more relaxed drive over the turbocharged performance of the existing S70 lineup. Proton Ride and Handling and three selectable drive modes carry over across the range.

As for features, both variants come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, available from October 2026, an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, all-window Auto Up/Down with Anti-Trap, remote engine start and five USB ports, with some equipment varying by variant.

Safety covers six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a Rear Side Radar System comprising Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning, alongside a Reverse Camera and Rear Seat Reminder as standard. The cabin features a near-flat rear floor for three-abreast seating comfort, wide rear shoulder room and a soft-touch instrument panel.

On-the-road pricing without insurance is RM59,800 for the 1.5 Lite and RM62,800 for the 1.5 Prime in Peninsular Malaysia, with East Malaysia prices running RM2,000 higher on each. Customers who book and register by 31 December 2026 receive a RM3,000 early bird rebate, bringing the effective starting price down to RM56,800 for the Lite and RM59,800 for the Prime in Peninsular Malaysia. Five colour options are available: Quartz Black, Marine Blue, Space Grey, Snow White and Armour Silver.

Every purchase includes a five-year unlimited-mileage Pro-Warranty and six free-labour services. Financing is available through Pro-Finance at rates from 2.35% per annum for up to nine years, and Pro-Trade-In offers up to RM2,000 in overtrade support for customers exchanging existing vehicles. An optional Pro-Shield insurance programme is also available, covering special perils, windscreen, enhanced flood relief of up to RM2,000 and passenger personal accident coverage of up to RM15,000 per person for up to four passengers.
