Genshin Impact Version 7.1 Arrives 23 September with Vesna, Vodyanitsa and Free Five-Star Characters

HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 7.1, titled A Rekviem for the Underworld, will launch on 23 September, continuing the Snezhnaya arc with a climactic showdown and marking the game’s sixth anniversary with a generous reward package.
The Archon Quest picks up from Version 7.0 with the crisis in Snezhnaya deepening further. Players will finally come face to face with the Tsaritsa and learn the true strategy behind her years-long effort to collect the Gnoses. Ronova, the Ruler of Death, has used her authority to severely hinder Snezhnaya’s progress, and with the arrival of Rhinedottir, the Ruler of Life, adding further uncertainty, an inevitable showdown is drawing near.
Players will head to the front lines for a climactic battle against Ronova, who also appears as a new Weekly Boss. Completing the new Archon Quest rewards 620 Primogems. A new ongoing feature also launches in Version 7.1, with special assignments issued by the Tsaritsa’s Confidential Secretary available for players to take on across the version.
Two new five-star characters join the roster: Vesna, the youngest Commander in Druzhna history and a five-star Anemo Sword wielder, is known for her unwavering loyalty to the Tsaritsa. In combat, she converts Cryo Swirl reactions into Stellar Swirl reactions. Her kit revolves around summoning Spirit Blades and accumulating Sword Essence through her Elemental Skill and other abilities, which she can then consume to command the Spirit Blades to strike enemies.
Attacks near a Stellar Vortex are treated as Stellar Swirl reaction damage. Her Elemental Burst summons another wave of Spirit Blades for AoE Anemo damage while restoring Sword Essence. As a Vila, Vesna can also take flight during open-world exploration. Completing a special anecdote featuring her unlocks a unique appearance for her sword spirit companion.
Joining her is Vodyanitsa, the Prima Donna of Snezhnograd’s Korolevskiy Troupe and a five-star Hydro Catalyst wielder. She transforms into her Water Imp form through her Elemental Skill, continuously healing the active character, reducing enemies’ Hydro and Cryo resistance and boosting the active character’s ATK.
Her song further empowers Stellar Vortices by reducing Anemo resistance and increasing Stellar Swirl reaction damage. Her Elemental Burst deals AoE Hydro damage across the battlefield. Outside of combat, Vodyanitsa can remain in her Water Imp form and move freely even on dry land. A story quest featuring her rewards a unique appearance for her microphone. The first-half Event Wishes pair Vesna and Vodyanitsa’s debuts, with Skirk and Escoffier returning in the second half.
The long-awaited Moonchase Festival returns to Liyue after five years, transforming Yilong Wharf for the celebrations. Beneath the festivities lies a mystery from the past that even Zhongli and Zibai have yet to unravel. Three new mini-games inspired by Liyue thaumaturges are part of the festivities, with rewards including a new four-star Sword. Back in Snezhnaya, a seasonal snowball event invites players to join local children in taking on unusual foes, and in Natlan a tournament prediction event spans several days of matches across 16 competing teams.
Miliastra Wonderland receives an autumn-themed lobby refresh inspired by osmanthus blossoms and the moon, with a free cosmetic set available through the related event and an exclusive headpiece from a special festival event. The editor also expands with client-side scripting support and new collaborative editing tools.
For the sixth anniversary, players who complete the latest Archon Quest can choose one event-exclusive five-star character for free from a select lineup at any point during Version 7.1, a first for the game. Additional anniversary rewards include one free standard five-star character, 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fates and more.
