Proton Expands S70 Lineup with new Lite and Prime Variants, Estimated Below RM60,000

Proton has opened bookings for two new variants of the S70 sedan, the Lite and Prime, with estimated pricing below RM60,000. Both variants are powered by a 1.5-litre i-GT naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT.

Final pricing will be confirmed at the official launch and customers who book and register by 31 December 2026 are eligible for an early bird reward.

The naturally aspirated powertrain is the main difference from the existing turbocharged S70 variants, prioritising smooth and quiet everyday driving over outright performance. Both new variants retain Proton Ride and Handling tuning alongside three selectable drive modes.

As for features, both Lite and Prime come equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, all-window Auto Up/Down with Anti Trap, remote engine start and five USB ports.

Safety kit covers six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a Rear Side Radar System comprising Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Door Opening Warning and Rear Collision Warning, alongside a Reverse Camera and Rear Seat Reminder as standard.

The cabin prioritises space and comfort, with a wide body offering greater rear shoulder room and a near-flat rear floor that should allow three passengers to sit side by side more comfortably.

Leatherette seats and a soft-touch instrument panel add a level of refinement that Proton says positions these two variants as among the most comprehensively equipped sedans available below the RM60,000 mark.

Bookings are open now at all authorised Proton dealers nationwide.
