Final Fantasy VII Revelation Launches 8 April 2027 on PS5, Pre-Orders Now Live

During PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on 8 April 2027, showcasing new gameplay footage of the upcoming game.

Revelation is the final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, continuing from where Final Fantasy VII Rebirth left off. Set in a vast open world, players can now explore the planet via the iconic Highwind airship, with traversal further aided by a returning chocobo companion named Piko who now functions as both a mount and a combat ally.

Piko grows stronger alongside the party over the course of the game, gaining new capabilities that assist in both exploration and battle. A new grappling gun also allows players to scale rooftops and navigate urban environments more fluidly.

Combat receives its biggest expansion yet through the FITS System, short for Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear. Four specialised suits, Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner, can be equipped to dramatically alter party members’ abilities and move sets, with each suit also visually transforming the character wearing it.

A new dynamic character-switching feature also allows players to instantly swap between party members during open-world exploration. Certain quests can also be assigned to specific party members, with the choice influencing how story events and gameplay scenarios unfold.

The fan-favourite card minigame Queen’s Blood returns with a major new storyline centred on Red XIII, introducing powerful new opponents and mechanics that build on the strategic foundation of the previous game.

Three editions are available for pre-order with all editions including the Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle Summon Materia as a bonus. The Premium Edition adds a Story Expansion Pass covering two story DLC packs, Early Access allowing play 24 hours ahead of the official launch, the Reclaimant Choker in-game accessory and a set of early-game consumable items.

The Premium Plus Edition includes everything in the Premium Edition and adds a digital art book, digital mini soundtrack, Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, the Nymphwing Bracelet in-game armour and the Risk Taker’s Choker in-game accessory.
