Apple Announces New Mac Mini With M6 and M5 Pro, Starting at RM3,799

Apple has announced a new Mac mini in two configurations powered by the all-new M6 and M5 Pro chips respectively, with pre-orders opening 27 August and availability from 22 September.

The new M6 model introduces Neural Accelerators into the GPU for the first time on Mac mini. The 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, each with two more cores than the M4 generation, are paired with a new Dual 16-core Neural Engine, delivering up to 4x faster AI performance, 2x faster graphics and storage and 40% faster CPU performance over the previous model.

Memory starts at 16GB configurable up to 32GB, with memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s. Connectivity on the rear covers three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI and Ethernet, with two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front.

The M5 Pro model steps up to an 18-core CPU and up to a 20-core GPU with third-generation ray tracing and Neural Accelerators throughout, supporting up to 64GB of unified memory with 307GB/s of bandwidth. It’s aimed at more demanding workflows including video rendering, 3D design and running larger local AI models on device. The rear connectivity upgrades to three Thunderbolt 5 ports, which also enables multiple Mac mini units to be clustered together for distributed AI inference workloads.

Both models gain Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard, with a 10Gb Ethernet option available. Genlock support via USB-C is also new, enabling synchronisation between a display and a camera including iPhone 17 Pro.
