Xiaomi Launches Redmi 17 Series and Redmi A7 in Malaysia: 7,500mAh Battery and 120Hz Displays Starting From RM469

Xiaomi has officially launched its new entry-level smartphone series in Malaysia with the Redmi 17 series and the Redmi A7. The Redmi 17 series features two models: 4G and 5G variants.

The Redmi 17 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor and provides up to 256GB of storage. A feature exclusive to this 5G variant is the Xiaomi HyperIsland, which integrates notification alerts around the front camera, currently compatible with select applications.
Conversely, the Redmi 17 4G utilizes the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chip, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Both 17 models sport a 50MP AI dual-camera system, IP64 dust and water resistance, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a dynamic RGB light on the rear panel for status notifications.

The more affordable Redmi A7 is equipped with a 5200mAh battery and a 6.88-inch 120Hz display. It is driven by a Unisoc T7250 processor and features a 13MP AI camera, alongside Wet Touch Technology for improved screen responsiveness in damp conditions.

Pricing for the Redmi 17 4G starts at RM 699 for the 4GB+128GB configuration but early birds can purchase the device for RM669.
The Redmi 17 5G is priced at RM 799 for the 4GB+128GB model and RM 899 for the 4GB+256GB version. The promo prices for both devices are RM769 and RM869 respectively. The Redmi A7 will launch on 15 September at RM 469 for the 3GB+64GB variant.
Additionally, Xiaomi is offering a promotional after-sales package for the Redmi 17 series from 8 August to 31 August, which provides extended coverage and complimentary replacements for the screen, battery, and cover or lens.
