Uber today announced its acquisition of and merger with Delivery Hero, one of the world’s leading food delivery companies and the operator behind the Foodpanda brand across Southeast Asia. Uber is acquiring Delivery Hero in a deal valued at RM60.3 billion.

Under the transaction, Uber will take over Delivery Hero’s operations across 50 markets, including Foodpanda Malaysia, Foodpanda Singapore, and Foodpanda’s presence in several other countries. In addition to Foodpanda, the acquisition also includes several of Delivery Hero’s other brands, including Glovo, HungerStation, PedidosYa, Talabat, and Baedal Minjok.

Uber said the combined platform will allow the company to further expand its delivery services to millions of users worldwide, while continuing to support merchants and delivery partners through greater opportunities and improved access to its global network. As part of the agreement, Uber will maintain Delivery Hero’s headquarters in Germany until at least 2029.

At the time of writing, Foodpanda Malaysia has not issued an official statement regarding the acquisition.
