The announcements from Apple this week continue as the Cupertino company introduces the MacBook Neo, an all-new Mac with a much lower price point. Starting at RM2,499, this model is the most affordable in the lineup and features an aluminium build available in blush, indigo, silver, and a unique citrus finish. The device is built for portability at 1.2KG and features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display that supports 1 billion colours with 500 nits of brightness.

Performance is driven by the A18 Pro chip (the chip found on the iPhone 16 Pro) and apparently runs silently without a fan. Apple claims the MacBook Neo is up to 50% faster for everyday tasks and three times faster for on-device AI workloads compared to competing Intel-based laptops in its class. A 16-core Neural Engine facilitates Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and live translation, while the integrated 5-core GPU handles creative work and gaming.

The MacBook Neo also sports 8GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of SSD storage, battery life is rated for up to 16 hours. There’s also a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and a dual-microphone array designed to improve video call clarity. Audio is delivered through two side-firing speakers that support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.

For connectivity, the MacBook Neo provides two USB-C ports and a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack, while also supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. The laptop also rocks a Magic Keyboard and a Multi-Touch trackpad, with Touch ID available on specific configurations for secure login and Apple Pay authentication.

The Apple MacBook Neo will be available in Malaysia soon at a starting price of RM2,499 for the base model and up to RM2,899 for the model with 512GB of RAM and Touch ID.
