A few since since the last update, Apple has unveiled a new family of professional displays designed to complement its Mac lineup, led by the all-new Studio Display XDR. This new display effectively replaces the previous Pro Display XDR, bringing advanced mini-LED technology to a 27-inch 5K Retina panel. Both the standard Studio Display and the XDR model are now integrated with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, facilitating faster data transfers and simplified daisy-chaining for complex professional setups.

The Studio Display XDR is the standout of the announcement, featuring a backlight composed of 2,304 local dimming zones. This hardware allows it to reach a peak HDR brightness of 2000 nits and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, significantly reducing blooming and halo effects. The new Apple display now includes a 120Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync, ensuring smoother motion for video editing and gaming. The panel also supports both P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts, which should make it a versatile reference tool for print and digital designers.

The standard Studio Display remains a 5K Retina option with 600 nits of brightness, but it receives internal upgrades to its camera and audio systems. Both displays now feature a 12MP Center Stage camera with support for Desk View, along with a six-speaker spatial audio system that delivers 30% deeper bass than the previous generation. Connectivity on both models includes two USB-C ports and two Thunderbolt 5 ports, with the XDR model capable of delivering up to 140W of power to fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro via a single cable.

In Malaysia, pre-orders for the new displays start on March 9. The Studio Display with a tilt-adjustable stand is priced starting at RM6,499, while the more advanced Studio Display XDR, which includes a tilt and height-adjustable stand as standard, starts at RM13,499. Both models are available with standard or nano-texture glass options.
