Alongside the iPhone 17e, Apple has also updated its tablet lineup with the new iPad Air, now powered by the M4 chip. This latest iteration maintains its predecessor’s starting price while providing a substantial jump in performance and memory. The shift focuses heavily on accelerating AI-driven tasks through a faster Neural Engine and 12GB of system memory, which Apple claims is 50 percent more than the previous generation.

The integration of the M4 chip brings an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU to the Air, making it up to 30 percent faster than the M3 model and 2.3 times faster than the older M1 version. Users upgrading from M1 hardware will see the biggest gains in professional workflows, as 3D rendering with ray tracing is now up to 4 times faster. The increased 120GB/s memory bandwidth is also designed to offer more fluid windowing and multitasking within iPadOS 26.

Connectivity has been updated with the inclusion of the N1 and C1X silicon chips. These allow the iPad Air to support Wi-Fi 7, ensuring faster wireless and cellular speeds, the latter for users who work remotely. The tablet remains available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, offered in four finishes: blue, purple, starlight, and space grey.

Of course, the new iPad continues to support the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard, making it a versatile tool for students, creators, and business users. Despite the performance increase, Apple claims the device still delivers all-day battery life across both size variants. The ecosystem remains supported by the latest iPadOS and a broad range of professional applications.

In Malaysia, customers can begin pre-ordering the iPad Air with M4 on Wednesday, March 4, with units arriving in stores on March 11. The 11-inch model starts at RM2,799 for Wi-Fi and RM3,499 for cellular. The 13-inch model is priced from RM3,699 for Wi-Fi and RM4,399 for cellular. Storage options across the lineup range from 128GB to 1TB.
