HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version Luna V, “Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation — Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind,” will launch on 25 February. This update brings players back to Mondstadt, the city where their journey first began, for a major celebration hosted by the Knights of Favonius. Familiar faces return, new activities await, and long time lore figure Varka finally steps into the spotlight as a playable character.
Varka, Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and Knight of Boreas, makes his debut as a 5 star Anemo claymore wielder. First mentioned in early Mondstadt storylines and later appearing more prominently in Nod Krai related stories, Varka has always been described as bold, open hearted and dependable despite his laid back impression. In this version, players can finally explore his character more deeply through his Story Quest, where the Great Wolf King of the North faces an unprecedented crisis and Varka leads his allies against a new Wild Hunt calamity.
In combat, Varka features a unique dual wield claymore style that allows him to deal two different types of Elemental DMG at the same time. His Elemental Skill enhances his Normal Attacks and converts the damage type of his right hand claymore based on his teammates’ elements, shifting it to Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo, while his left hand claymore continues to deal Anemo DMG.
By unleashing additional enhanced Normal Attacks, Varka can trigger a special Elemental Skill more frequently or activate a unique Charged Attack that does not consume Stamina. His Hexerei effect further increases access to these enhanced attacks, significantly boosting his overall damage output.

After defeating Wolf Spirit fragments in battle, players can also unlock a brand new weapon appearance for both of Varka’s weapons free of charge.
Varka’s debut will headline the first phase of the Event Wishes alongside a rerun of Flins. The second phase will see the return of Skirk and Escoffier. In addition, the Chronicle Wish featuring Mondstadt characters will make its return in this update.

Beyond new characters, Version Luna V introduces a flagship event centred around revisiting Mondstadt and reliving memories from the beginning of the journey. The Knights of Favonius have prepared a variety of activities for players to take part in.
In “Echoes of Memory,” familiar scenes from past adventures appear with subtle differences. Players must explore designated areas and use the Spotter Kamera to capture and record these changes. Another event allows players to reconnect with old acquaintances by crafting beverages tailored to each character’s tastes.

For those looking for more action, special Gliding and Combat Challenges will also be available. In the Combat Challenge, players can summon mysterious Knight Shadows to break enemy weaknesses and turn the tide of battle. Completing these challenges rewards a crystal ball inspired weapon appearance, “Phantasmal Gift: Star Omen,” which can be equipped by any Catalyst wielder.
Several mini games are also arriving with the update. A special Kamera challenge will send players across Natlan, Fontaine and Sumeru to capture iconic sights from past adventures. A new strategic defense mode will focus on fending off waves of enemies, while Travelers’ Tales receives further updates.

Miliastra Wonderland will introduce a new voice feature alongside gameplay modes built around this functionality. Players can also obtain a brand new Manekin cosmetic set, “Owl Envoy,” free of charge through in game events.
Genshin Impact Version Luna V launches on 25 February, inviting players to return home to Mondstadt and revisit where it all began.
