Over the past few weeks, one of the more talked-about names in the AI space has been OpenClaw. The project originally launched as Clawdbot, was later rebranded to Moltbot, and is now known as OpenClaw.

OpenClaw focuses on agentic AI, enabling AI systems to autonomously carry out tasks such as replying to emails, managing calendars, handling workflows, and executing multi-step actions. Notably, the team also developed a dedicated social platform for AI agents called Moltbook, designed specifically for agent-based interactions.
Now, the founder of OpenClaw has joined OpenAI, where he will help drive the development of next-generation agentic AI systems within the company. The move signals OpenAI’s continued push into more autonomous, action-oriented AI models beyond simple conversational tools.
Despite the founder’s transition, OpenClaw will continue to be maintained as an open-source project, allowing the broader developer community to access, contribute to, and build upon the platform.
