During the latest State of Play broadcast, PlayStation spotlighted a mix of first party projects and third party titles headed to PS5 and PC. The showcase featured everything from long rumoured remakes to new multiplayer updates and sequels, alongside fresh trailers and release date announcements.

God of War Trilogy Remake and God of War Sons of Sparta

As God of War approaches the final month of its 20th anniversary celebrations in March 2026, Santa Monica Studio has officially announced a remake of the original God of War trilogy. While details remain limited and the project is still in early development, the remake will revisit Kratos’ original Greek saga for a new generation.

Alongside the remake announcement, Santa Monica Studio also revealed a brand new title, God of War Sons of Sparta. This 2D action platformer tells a canon story set during Kratos’ youth, focusing on his brutal training at the Agoge alongside his brother Deimos.

The narrative comes from the same writing team behind God of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarök, with TC Carson reprising his role as the adult Kratos, serving as the story’s narrator for the first time in over a decade. While the trilogy remake is still some way off, God of War Sons of Sparta is available now on the PlayStation Store.

MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls

MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls is set to launch on PS5 and PC on August 6, with pre orders opening on February 19. During State of Play, three new additions to the roster were revealed, Magik, Wolverine and Danger, expanding the previously announced lineup. In a supporting PlayStation Blog post, the development team also confirmed an Episode Mode, offering a structured single player experience alongside the competitive fighting component.

Ghost of Yōtei Legends

Sucker Punch is expanding Ghost of Yōtei with Legends, a new online co op multiplayer mode arriving as part of patch 1.5. The update will be free for all Ghost of Yōtei owners and launches on March 10.

Legends allows players to team up with friends to battle monstrous and supernatural versions of the Yōtei Six. At launch, the mode will feature three mission types. In Survival, up to four players can take on waves of increasingly difficult enemies across four different maps, fighting to control territory. Capturing locations unlocks Blessings, which provide advantages in battle and add another layer of strategy to encounters.

Marathon

Bungie brought a new gameplay trailer for Marathon to the broadcast and announced a Server Slam scheduled for February 26. PS5 players will be able to try selected content from the full game, earn a tiered gear package, and unlock a special emblem and banner that will carry over into the final release.

Death Stranding 2 On the Beach on PC

Death Stranding 2 On the Beach is officially heading to PC on March 19, with pre purchase starting today on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The PC release will introduce new features and modes, which will also arrive on PS5 the same day via a game update. More details on those additions will be shared later.

Kena Scars of Kosmora

The sequel to Kena Bridge of Spirits was revealed during the showcase. Titled Kena Scars of Kosmora, the new story driven action adventure follows an older and more established Kena as she travels to the mysterious island of Kosmora in search of answers about the affliction she has endured throughout her life. Kosmora is described as a land of distinct cultures and varied regions, hiding secrets tied to a tragic past. The game is set to launch on PS5 and PC in 2026.

John Wick

Saber Interactive is collaborating with the creators of the John Wick franchise on a new game set within the universe. The title will explore a previously unseen chapter in John Wick’s life, allowing players to step into the role of the Baba Yaga himself.

The studio promises to capture the defining elements of the films, including stylised cinematography, bold environments, and the signature gun fu combat and intense driving sequences the series is known for. The game is coming to PS5, though its official title and release date have yet to be announced.
