High-profile domain names often fetch staggering prices due to their rarity and demand. The latest example is AI.com, which has reportedly been sold for $70 million (around RM276 million), making it the most expensive domain sale in history to date.

The AI.com domain was previously owned by Arsyan Ismail, a Malaysian best known locally for once purchasing the Acer Predator 21X gaming laptop in Malaysia for RM39,999. The sale of AI.com now places the domain at the very top of the global domain value charts.

The buyer is Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com. Under the newly acquired AI.com domain, Crypto.com is said to be planning offerings focused on agent-based AI services, signalling a strategic expansion beyond its existing crypto-centric business.

With artificial intelligence continuing to dominate the tech landscape, the sale highlights just how valuable a short, universally recognisable AI-focused domain has become, and why AI.com now stands as a digital asset worth tens of millions.
