Sony Malaysia has officially expanded its vinyl lineup with the launch of two new turntables, the PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT. Both models lean heavily into ease of use while quietly packing modern wireless tech under the hood.

At the core of both turntables is a one-button, fully automatic playback system, taking care of tonearm movement and playback with minimal user input. Wireless listening is also front and centre here, with Bluetooth connectivity supporting aptX, aptX Adaptive, and Hi-Res Wireless Audio, allowing users to enjoy detailed playback even without a physical connection. For those who prefer a more traditional setup, wired listening is still fully supported.

Sony has also made it easy to bring vinyl into the digital age. Both turntables feature a USB output with three-level gain control, allowing users to digitise their records directly to a computer. Hardware-wise, you’re getting a high-quality cartridge, an aluminium platter for stable rotation, and a transparent dust cover that protects your setup without hiding it away. Support for both 33⅓ and 45 RPM records means compatibility with 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl, and Sony notes that both models ship in recycled, sustainable packaging.

The PS-LX3BT is positioned as the more lifestyle-oriented option of the two. Its clean, understated design makes it easy to slot into everyday spaces, whether that’s a living room shelf or a home office setup. With a built-in phono equalizer and an attached audio cable included in the box, it’s very much a plug-and-play experience aimed at newcomers to vinyl or anyone looking for a fuss-free setup.

Stepping up to the PS-LX5BT, Sony shifts the focus toward refinement and audio precision. The turntable features a rigid one-piece body designed to minimise resonance, paired with an aluminium tonearm, rubber mat, and carefully tuned circuit design to suppress unwanted vibration. All of this is meant to preserve clarity and stability during playback, especially at higher volumes.

Building on that foundation, the PS-LX5BT is fitted with a higher-grade cartridge that Sony says delivers a richer sound with a wider soundstage. There’s also a gold-plated audio jack for those opting for a wired connection, catering to users who want to extract that last bit of performance from their vinyl setup.

The Sony PS-LX3BT is priced at RM1,099, while the PS-LX5BT comes in at RM1,499. Both turntables will be available in Malaysia starting 6 April 2026.
