Fujifilm Malaysia has officially expanded its instax lineup with the launch of the instax mini Evo Cinema, the latest addition to its Evo Series of hybrid instant cameras. Like other models in the series, the mini Evo Cinema blends digital shooting with instant printing, allowing users to preview images on the rear LCD, apply creative effects, and selectively print their favourite shots.

Visually, the mini Evo Cinema stands out with a vertical grip design inspired by Fujifilm’s classic FUJICA Single-8, an 8mm movie camera first introduced in 1965. Beyond still photography, the camera is also capable of capturing video, and this is where its “Cinema” identity comes into play. Captured video data can be converted into a QR code and printed alongside a still frame extracted from the footage, effectively allowing users to physically “hand over a video” that can be viewed digitally.

On the hardware side, the instax mini Evo Cinema is equipped with a 5MP 1/5-inch CMOS sensor paired with an f/2.0 aperture and an ISO range of 100 to 1600. Power comes from a built-in lithium-ion battery, rated for approximately 100 prints on a full charge, with a charging time of around two to three hours.

A new creative feature exclusive to this model is the Eras Dial, which introduces effects inspired by different periods in time. Each era effect offers ten adjustable intensity levels, resulting in a total of 100 possible visual expressions. These effects can be applied to both photos and videos, giving users more flexibility to experiment with different moods and visual styles.

Complementing the camera is a dedicated companion app that expands its creative potential further. Users can edit videos by combining clips and applying cinematic opening and ending templates, making short videos feel more polished and intentional. The app also enables a Direct Print function, allowing smartphone images to be printed directly onto instax film, effectively turning the mini Evo Cinema into a three-in-one device that works as a camera, printer, and creative tool.

The Fujifilm instax mini Evo Cinema is now available in Malaysia at a retail price of RM1,848 and includes a pack of instax mini glossy film. Early bird purchases will also receive a pouch and a 32GB microSD card, worth RM188.
