Apple has updated the AirTag with a longer finding range and a louder speaker, making it easier to track down misplaced items. The new AirTag will be priced at RM129 for a single unit or RM429 for a four-pack when it becomes available in Malaysia.

The upgrade is powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, the same one used in the iPhone 17 lineup and the latest Apple Watch models. With this, Precision Finding now works from up to 50% farther away, using haptic, visual, and audio cues to guide users to their lost items.

Bluetooth range has also been improved, and for the first time, Precision Finding can be used directly on Apple Watch Series 9 or later, as well as Apple Watch Ultra 2 and newer models.

Apple has also redesigned the internals, resulting in a speaker that is up to 50% louder than before. In practice, this means you can hear your AirTag from up to twice the distance, which should help in noisy environments or cluttered spaces.

The new AirTag also works with Share Item Location, allowing users to temporarily share the location of a lost item with trusted third parties such as airlines. Apple has partnered with more than 50 airlines that can securely access shared locations to help recover delayed or lost luggage. Access is limited to authorised staff, expires automatically after seven days, and can be ended at any time once the item is found.

Privacy remains unchanged. AirTag does not store location history on the device, all communication with the Find My network is end to end encrypted, and only the owner can see an item’s location.

The new AirTag will be available soon via Apple’s official website the Apple Store app, Apple Store locations, and authorised resellers. Free personalised engraving is still available during checkout.

Pricing remains RM129 for a single AirTag and RM429 for a four-pack. Apple’s FineWoven Key Ring is sold separately for RM179 and comes in fox orange, midnight purple, navy, moss, and black.

The new AirTag requires an iPhone running iOS 26 or later or an iPad running iPadOS 26 or later, along with an Apple Account signed into iCloud. Precision Finding on Apple Watch requires Apple Watch Series 9 or later or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or newer running watchOS 26.2.1.
