Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Bookings Open: Three Variants, Estimated from RM110k

Proton has officially pulled the covers off the e.MAS 7 PHEV ahead of its expected launch in February, with bookings now open for the national carmaker’s first plug-in hybrid model.
First teased just a month ago, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is now shown without camouflage, giving us a clearer look at how Proton plans to bridge the gap between its EV ambitions and more conventional electrified drivetrains.

The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV will be offered in three variants: Prime, Premium, and Premium Plus, with tentative pricing estimated to start from RM110,000 and up to around RM130,000. This positions it squarely in the increasingly competitive electrified SUV segment, while undercutting many fully imported PHEV alternatives.
Visually, the e.MAS 7 PHEV stays closely aligned with the e.MAS 7 EV, though there are subtle differences. The PHEV is marginally larger overall and gains a model-specific split headlight design, while higher-end variants feature a full-width front light bar. Around the back, unique taillight signatures, revised bumpers, and a tailgate-mounted number plate help distinguish it from its fully electric sibling.

Powering the e.MAS 7 PHEV is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Dedicated Hybrid Engine (DHE) producing 73 hp and 125 Nm of torque. This is paired with a traction electric motor, bringing total system output to 160 hp, with the electric motor contributing 262 Nm of torque. Drivers can choose between three driving modes: Pure for EV-only driving, Hybrid for balanced efficiency, and Power for more responsive performance.
Inside, the cabin layout will feel familiar to anyone who has seen the e.MAS 7 EV. The PHEV features a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a large 15.4-inch central infotainment display. The system runs on Flyme Auto OS with support for English and Malay, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as over-the-air software updates.

Step up to the higher variants and the feature list grows accordingly. These include a 13.8-inch head-up display, a 16-speaker Flyme audio system, a 360-degree surround view camera, and a 256-colour ambient lighting system. Buyers can also choose between two interior colour themes: Alabaster White or Onyx Black.
On the outside, the e.MAS 7 PHEV will be available in five exterior colours: Obsidian Black, Lithium White, Mercury Silver, Galena Grey, and Aquamarine Blue. The latter three make their local debut with this model.

To sweeten the deal, Proton is offering a RM500 booking fee rebate for the first 5,000 customers, effectively bringing the booking fee down to just RM99. Proton has confirmed that the e.MAS 7 PHEV is scheduled to officially launch sometime in February, with more details expected closer to its on-sale date.
