Apple Taps Google Gemini to Power Next-Generation Siri and Apple Intelligence

Apple and Google have today announced a strategic partnership, confirming that Apple’s Foundation Model will be based on Google’s Gemini technology. This model will be used to power Apple Intelligence as well as the next-generation Siri, which is expected to be introduced in 2026.

Apple is said to have selected Google’s AI technology after a comprehensive evaluation, taking into account overall capabilities and performance. The company also emphasized that Apple Intelligence will continue to operate on Apple devices through Private Cloud Compute, maintaining a strong focus on user privacy.

Apple previously unveiled Apple Intelligence and a new generation of Siri around two years ago, but faced technical challenges that led to delays in their rollout. Now, after two years, Apple appears to have chosen Google as its AI technology partner, enabling the company to finally deliver and roll out a range of new features across Apple Intelligence and Siri.
