Maybank Introduces New Google Pay Limits, Physical Card Required for Larger Purchases

Maybank has informed customers that, effective January 27, 2026, all Maybank cardholders using Google Pay will be subject to a maximum transaction limit of RM2,500 per payment. For any transactions exceeding this amount, users will be required to use their physical cards instead.

At the same time, Maybank noted that for purchases above RM250, users will no longer be required to enter their card PIN, helping to speed up the checkout process when paying with Google Pay.

Previously, CIMB had implemented a similar policy, requiring customers to use physical cards for Google Pay transactions exceeding RM2,500.
