Apple Introduces Mini Apps Partner Program with Reduced 15% Rate

Apple has launched the new App Store Mini Apps Partner Program, offering developers a reduced 15% commission on qualifying in-app purchases for mini apps and mini games. The goal is to support developers who host these lightweight, HTML5 or JavaScript-based experiences inside a native app while ensuring a safe and seamless user experience on iOS and iPadOS.
To qualify, participating apps must adopt Apple’s Declared Age Range API and Advanced Commerce API, which help deliver age-appropriate content and a smooth checkout experience. Mini apps also need to meet the App Store’s existing guideline 4.7 requirements, including providing approved metadata and a manifest listing all hosted mini apps and their digital goods.
Once accepted, developers retain 85% of revenue from eligible in-app purchases made within their mini apps. Apple’s standard IAP system remains mandatory, giving users access to familiar tools such as purchase history, subscription management, refund requests, and customer support. Apps must also use Apple’s Send Consumption Information endpoint to help streamline the refund process.
Developers interested in joining can submit a request through the Apple Developer Program, along with details about their host app and mini apps. After approval, the app and its associated mini-app purchase IDs can be submitted for App Review. Existing program members can continue adding new mini apps by updating their manifest during the submission process.
