Proton e.MAS 5 Arrives: Malaysia’s Most Affordable EV Starts at RM56,800

After months of teasers and previews, Proton has finally officially launched the Proton e.MAS 5 in Malaysia. Priced from RM56,800 for the Prime and RM69,800 for the Premium (with a RM3,000 launch rebate valid until December 31), the e.MAS 5 officially becomes the most affordable EV in the country — and the first to be priced below RM100,000.

The e.MAS 5 Prime is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 79 hp (58 kW) and 130 Nm of torque, paired with a 30.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that delivers up to 225 km of range (WLTP).
Stepping up to the Premium variant gets you a more powerful 116 PS, 150 Nm motor and a larger 40.16 kWh LFP battery, extending range to 325 km (WLTP). Both variants support 6.6 kW AC charging, with the Prime taking 4.3 hours and the Premium 5.9 hours to charge from 10–80%.

For faster top-ups, the Prime supports 53 kW DC fast charging, while the Premium goes up to 71 kW, allowing a 30–80% charge in just 21 minutes.
Each Proton e.MAS 5 comes with a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, eight years or 160,000 km coverage for the high-voltage battery and components, and five years of unlimited internet data.

To sweeten the deal, Proton has also announced five exclusive launch packages worth up to RM8,000. The first is Power Xchange, which offers a RM2,000 rebate for customers who de-register their non-roadworthy vehicles — a small incentive for drivers looking to make the switch from older combustion models to EVs.
Next is Power Online, which provides five years of unlimited internet data valued at RM1,800, ensuring that owners can stay connected to Proton’s in-car services and digital ecosystem at all times. For financing, the Power Financing package offers a five-year loan at an attractive 1.99% interest rate through Proton Commerce, making the e.MAS 5 easier to own.

To support home charging convenience, Proton is also including the Power Home package, which bundles a complimentary 7 kW home charger worth RM1,500 — a useful addition for first-time EV buyers.
Finally, the Power Trade-In package provides a RM1,500 rebate via a trade-in partnership with Carsome, allowing customers to easily upgrade from their current vehicles to Proton’s latest EV.

With the RM3,000 launch rebate applied, the Proton e.MAS 5 Prime is priced at RM56,800, while the Premium comes in at RM69,800. The promotion runs until 31 December 2025.
