Proton, through its subsidiary PRO-NET, has officially opened booking for its latest electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 5. The EV will be priced between RM60,000 and RM80,000, making it the most affordable electric car in Malaysia at the moment compared to other competitors. Two variants will be offered — the e.MAS 5 Prime and e.MAS 5 Premium. Proton expects deliveries to begin as early as November 2025.

The Proton e.MAS 5 comes in a compact build, designed for city driving and young families. Powering the car is a 40kW LFP battery from CATL, capable of delivering a 325km WLTP driving range. The battery is equipped with a cooling system and supports 71kW DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 30% to 80% in just 21 minutes. Performance-wise, the EV delivers 0–50km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds, backed by 150Nm of torque.

In terms of practicality, the e.MAS 5 offers a 70L front trunk (frunk) and a 375L rear boot, providing versatile storage options. Inside, it features a 14.6-inch infotainment display with FHD resolution and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

For early adopters, Proton is offering special perks. The first 5,000 pre-orders will receive a TNG NFC card with RM100 credit, along with an additional RM500 rebate. Customers can secure their booking for just RM99 during this early batch, for the first 5,000 pre-orders. With its competitive pricing, compact design, and practical features, the Proton e.MAS 5 positions itself as a game-changer in Malaysia’s EV market, especially for first-time EV buyers and urban drivers.
