Apple today announced the new iPhone 17, introducing a host of upgrades across its cameras, display, and performance. The latest entry in the iPhone lineup brings a redesigned 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, a tougher Ceramic Shield 2 front cover, and the latest A19 chip for better speed and efficiency.

For the first time, iPhone 17 features an 18MP Center Stage front camera with a square sensor design. It not only captures selfies in higher detail, but also enables landscape or portrait shots without rotating the phone. Group selfies are easier too, with AI automatically expanding the field of view to include everyone. The camera also supports 4K HDR video with ultra-stabilization, while Dual Capture lets users record with both the front and rear cameras at the same time.
At the back, iPhone 17 debuts an all-new 48MP Fusion camera system. The main camera delivers sharp, detailed shots with an integrated 2x Telephoto, while the new Ultra Wide captures expansive landscapes, close-up macros, and four times more detail than before. For video, it supports 4K60 Dolby Vision, Cinematic and Action modes, along with Spatial Audio recording. Users can also capture spatial photos and videos to relive moments on Apple Vision Pro.

The 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display is brighter and smoother than the previous generation, with ProMotion adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, thinner bezels, and a peak outdoor brightness of 3,000 nits. Always-On display remains available, now with improved anti-reflection and contrast outdoors. Protection is handled by Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says offers three times better scratch resistance than before.
Powering everything is the new A19 chip, built on Apple’s third-generation 3nm process. It delivers a faster 6-core CPU, a more powerful 5-core GPU with built-in Neural Accelerators, and improved efficiency for both performance and battery life. Apple claims up to 30 hours of video playback, eight more than the previous generation, with 50% charge achievable in 20 minutes using a compatible USB-C adapter.

iPhone 17 also debuts Apple’s N1 wireless chip with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, improving connectivity and reliability across features like AirDrop and Personal Hotspot.
In Malaysia, the iPhone 17 will be priced at RM3,999 for the 256GB model and RM4,999 for the 512GB model. Available in Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White and Black, pre-orders begin on 12 September 2025, with official sales starting 19 September.
