Genshin Impact’s Version 5.8 update, titled “Sunspray Summer Resort,” sets sail on 30 July with a vibrant new summer adventure map, a lineup of limited-time events, and the introduction of a new 5-star character from the upcoming region of Nod-Krai. The update kicks off the prelude to the next nation with Ineffa’s arrival, as players get their first taste of what’s to come in the unfolding “Song of the Welkin Moon” storyline.
At the heart of Version 5.8 is Easybreeze Holiday Resort, a colorful, laid-back island area located off the western coast of Natlan. Opening its doors for a limited-time trial period, the new region lets Travelers dive into a sun-drenched escape featuring cheerful events, mini-games, and familiar faces. Bennett, Chasca, and Mualani return for the summer festivities, while Venti also makes a surprise appearance — hinting at deeper ties to the region in the new story quest, “Sunspray Summer Resort.”
Joining the cast is Asha, the resort’s ever-smiling mascot. Asha grants players special traversal abilities reminiscent of the Saurians, allowing for effortless water gliding and midair hovering, perfect for navigating the multi-layered resort. However, beneath the resort’s idyllic surface lies the mysterious Mare Jivari, a forbidden zone where a primordial creature named Bakunawa slumbers, waiting for daring challengers to enter its lair.

To match the summer spirit, the update brings a wave of limited-time events that reward players with Sunspray Spirit, which can be exchanged for premium loot. Whether painting murals, helping adorable mascots in “Travels Are Fuller With Friends,” blasting enemies in “Strikers Through the Storm,” or rocking out in beachside music parties, each activity contributes toward unlocking rewards, including the exclusive 4-star Claymore “Flame-Forged Insight” and a fiery new outfit for Bennett titled “Adventures in Blazing Hue.”
The biggest addition this version is Ineffa, the first character hailing from Nod-Krai, and the star of the “Song of the Welkin Moon” prelude arc. Designed by the inventive mechanic Aino, Ineffa is a multi-functional household assistant whose journey begins in Natlan. As a 5-star Electro polearm user, Ineffa introduces a new elemental reaction: Lunar-Charged.

This reaction replaces standard Electro-Charged effects, creating Thunderclouds that deal persistent Electro damage to enemies simultaneously affected by Electro and Hydro with a chance to trigger critical hits. Her combat kit also includes a deployable shield and Birgitta, a mobile support unit that dashes toward enemies and deals area-of-effect Electro damage, with added synergy when Lunar-Charged effects are active nearby.
In Version 5.8’s limited-time banners, Ineffa headlines Phase 1 alongside a rerun of Citlali, while Phase 2 features the return of Mualani and Chasca. Meanwhile, Yelan makes an appearance with a brand-new Fontaine-inspired outfit, “Tranquil Banquet,” complete with a camera device capable of capturing hidden traces. Her new look will be available for a limited time at a discounted rate.

Genshin Impact Version 5.8 launches 30 July. With the summer in full swing and Nod-Krai’s storyline beginning to unfold, Travelers can expect a fresh wave of adventure along with a sneak peek at the next chapter on Teyvat’s horizon.
