Alongside the launch of its latest smartphone, Nothing has officially unveiled its first-ever pair of over-ear headphones, aptly named the Nothing Headphone (1). As seen in the leaks a week prior, the Headphone (1) blends retro-inspired aesthetics from the 1980s with Nothing’s signature futuristic transparent design.

These are closed-back headphones featuring square-shaped earcups, each housing 40mm drivers and an audio system tuned in collaboration with KEF. The left earcup houses a cluster of physical controls, including buttons for power, ANC toggle, voice assistant activation, track skipping, and Bluetooth pairing. Notably, the volume button is touch-sensitive, allowing users to slide their finger to adjust levels.

A long press on this touch slider enables active noise cancellation (ANC) or transparency mode. Another unique inclusion is a pedal-style switch that can skip tracks with a tap and fast-forward or rewind audio with a longer press — a rather unconventional interface compared to mainstream headphones. The Bluetooth pairing button, cleverly hidden inside the right earcup, keeps the design clean.

The outer shell of the square earcups is made from metal and translucent plastic, while the ear cushions use PU leather and memory foam for comfort. The headband combines metal and plastic with adjustable arms for a better fit.

Connectivity options are versatile — the Headphone (1) supports Bluetooth, 3.5mm wired connection, and USB-C audio. It also supports Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and audio codecs such as SBC, AAC, and LDAC. For lossless audio streaming, users can opt for the USB-C cable. Additional features include spatial audio support and head tracking for a more immersive listening experience.

Its square-shaped carry case is relatively large due to the non-foldable design — similar to Sony’s WH-1000XM5 or the Sonos Ace. The earcups, however, rotate 90 degrees, allowing the headphones to lay flat for easier storage.

With a 1040mAh battery, the Nothing Headphone (1) delivers up to 80 hours of playback without ANC when using AAC. With ANC turned on, battery life drops to 35 hours, and 30 hours when streaming in LDAC mode. A full recharge takes approximately 120 minutes.

The Nothing Headphone (1) is priced at $299 (~RM1255) and will be available in black and white. Malaysian pricing and availability will be revealed during the official launch event on July 11.
