Threads Introduces Messaging Feature for Direct Chats

Meta has officially announced the introduction of a messaging feature on the Threads app. With this update, all users can now send and receive direct messages without needing to leave the platform.

In this initial rollout phase, messaging is limited to direct messages (DMs) between users who follow each other on Threads, or mutual followers from Instagram. Group messaging is not yet supported but is expected to be added soon.

To make messaging more accessible, Threads has added a mail-shaped icon to the bottom navigation bar, allowing quick access to the inbox. The update is being rolled out gradually and will reach all users in the coming days.
