After several spy shots on the road, the all-new Proton X50 facelift has finally been revealed. Seemingly inspired by the Geely Binyue L, the redesigned B-segment SUV brings more than just a new look, offering meaningful upgrades under the hood.

The all-new Proton X50 introduces a refreshed exterior featuring a new front grille and bumper, a sportier rear spoiler, quad exhaust tailpipes, a dual-tone colour scheme, and a newly designed set of 18-inch textured alloy wheels.

Under the X50 facelift’s bonnet is an i-GT 1.5 TD engine mated to a responsive 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This latest model delivers 133 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque, promising a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 7.6 seconds. That’s 0.3 seconds faster than the previous model, with an added 4.7% boost in fuel efficiency.

Inside, the all-new Proton X50 offers several upgrades, including the long-awaited Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. There’s now an 8.88-inch LCD meter display and automatic column shifter for the driver, a large 14.6-inch infotainment head unit, a new centre console with wireless charging, as well as rhythmic ambient lighting with 72 colour options. Adding to the existing Normal, Sport, and Eco modes is a new Adaptive Mode that transitions intelligently between them.

In terms of ADAS improvements, there is now a Rear Side Radar System (RSRS) that includes Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Door Opening Warning (DOW). A new Auto Park Assist (APA) feature allows drivers to select a specific spot for the car to park in automatically. There’s also the addition of a 360-degree HD camera that offers a 180-degree transparent view.

The 2025 X50 is also the first in the industry to offer Bahasa Melayu voice recognition. Drivers can simply say things like “Hi Proton, buka tingkap, hidupkan aircond, mainkan muzik” or “arah ke KLCC” for convenient, hands-free control.

The car will be available in five colours: Teal Bayou Green, Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, and Armour Silver. Buyers can choose from three variants: Executive, Premium, and Flagship. The Premium model upgrades to 18-inch wheels from the Executive’s 17-inch set, and adds a powered tailgate, interior ambient lighting, and a 360-degree HD camera. Opting for the Flagship model adds an extra sporty spoiler, semi-transparent sun visors, a wireless charging centre console, and the Auto Park Assist (APA) feature.

While official pricing has yet to be revealed, registration of interest is now open on the official Proton website. We’ll be sure to cover the pricing of the All-New Proton X50 when it becomes available.
