Bandai Namco Filmworks and Legendary Entertainment have officially partnered to develop a live-action Hollywood adaptation of the iconic Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, currently titled GUNDAM. They also confirmed that Jim Mickle, known for directing In the Shadow of the Moon and Sweet Tooth, will helm the project.

To support the film’s production, Bandai Namco is establishing Bandai Namco Filmworks America (BNFA), which will also focus on expanding the Gundam franchise in international markets.

First launched in 1979, Mobile Suit Gundam has since spawned 25 anime series, 34 films, 27 OVAs, and numerous spin-offs, generating over $900 million annually. This marks the first-ever Hollywood live-action adaptation of the legendary mecha franchise.
