Malaysia’s 5G adoption rate has now reached 53.35%, with 18.19 million subscriptions, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

5G coverage has also expanded to 82.4% of populated areas, up from 82.1% at the end of last year. Meanwhile, the national average 5G speed currently stands at 174Mbps. As of now, there are 7,485 5G towers nationwide, with more to come as Malaysia prepares to roll out its second 5G network.
Fahmi made this announcement during the 5G Dual Network Implementation Coordination Meeting at the Ministry of Communications. Further details on the future of Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), the country’s first 5G network operator, and U Mobile, the second 5G operator, will be revealed soon.
