After launching the ROG Phone 9 series in Malaysia last month, it looks like the Taiwanese company is gearing up to launch a more affordable version of its gaming phone. Dubbed ROG Phone 9 FE, we reckon the device will be available in Malaysia very soon.
In our routine search through SIRIM’s database, we came across the ROG Phone 9 FE carrying the model number ASUS_AI2401_N. The device was registered with Dynamics Distribution just last week on 17 January, so there’s a good chance the mysterious phone will be introduced on our shores in the near future.

Hardware wise, the ROG Phone 9 FE is believed to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, given the similarity of its model number to the ROG Phone 8 series. Of course, this is merely a guess at this point in time, but the FE moniker – if Asus is following Samsung’s naming strategy – does suggest that the ROG Phone 9 FE will have slightly lower-end hardware compared to the regular ROG Phone 9 series; the latter is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Now that the ROG Phone 9 FE has been registered with SIRIM already, we reckon the phone will be officially launched in the very near future. Rest assured, we will keep a close eye for any relevant announcements from ROG, especially on the local availability of the more budget-friendly gaming phone.
