Here’s an interesting news to cap off the year: the Oppo Find N5 has appeared in SIRIM’s database! This is particularly intriguing because the phone, which is believed to be the successor to the Oppo Find N3 foldable phone, hasn’t even been released yet. Now that it has been certified by SIRIM, it’s very likely Malaysia will be one of the first markets to get the Find N5.
As we were going through SIRIM’s database – something that we do on a regular basis – we spotted the Find N5 (model number CPH2671) registered under Jie Business just today on 31 December. Every electronic officially sold in Malaysia has to be registered with SIRIM first, so with that in mind, the Find N5 can technically be sold on our shores already.
Given that the Find N5 has not been launched by Oppo yet, we only have leaks and rumours of its purported hardware. These include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 5,700mAh battery – that’s quite a bit bigger than its predecessor’s 4,805mAh cell – and a similar camera module design as the Find X8 series with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 50MP telephoto lens.
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen exactly when the Oppo Find N5 will be unveiled by the Chinese company. But given that the device has already been certified by SIRIM, we reckon it won’t be long until the foldable phone is officially launched – perhaps it will be revealed next month in January 2025.
