MSI Claw 8 AI+ Coming to Malaysia Soon – Intel Lunar Lake Handheld Gaming PC
December 30, 2024 Andrew Cheng

Initially unveiled to the world earlier this month, it looks like the MSI Claw 8 AI+ will be coming to Malaysia very, very soon. One of the headline features of the Taiwanese company’s latest handheld gaming PC is naturally the Intel Lunar Lake chip; more specifically, the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V.

As usual, we were going through SIRIM’s database when we came across the Claw 8 AI+. It was actually registered last week on 24 December under Achieva Technology, and now that it has received SIRIM’s certification, there’s a good chance the handheld gaming PC will be officially sold in Malaysia in the near future.

Aside from the Core Ultra 7 258V processor, the Claw 8 AI+ also has an Intel Arc 140V integrated GPU, 32GB LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, PCIe Gen4 SSD, and an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display with 120Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the panel also supports variable refresh rate to minimise screen tearing.

In terms of battery life – which was one of the pain points of the original Claw – the Claw 8 AI+ comes with an 80Wh battery. While no battery life estimate was given for the handheld gaming PC, 80Wh is quite a generous battery capacity, and paired with the power efficiency of the new Lunar Lake chip, it should be able to offer good battery life.

No word yet from MSI Malaysia on the local availability of the MSI Claw 8 AI+, though the handheld gaming PC is already available for pre-order in selected markets. In the US, for example, the Claw 8 AI+ retails from $899 – that comes up to about RM4,020.
