The Proton e.MAS 7 was launched in Malaysia earlier this week, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated EVs this year. For peace of mind, the electric SUV comes with a six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, along with an eight-year/160,000km warranty on the battery and components.
But what does the battery warranty actually mean? Well, if the battery’s health drops below 70% of its total capacity within the warranty period, Proton will replace the battery for free as reported by Paultan.org. It’s worth noting that other carmakers here practice the same policy too, including BYD and Chery.
To recap, two variants of the e.MAS 7 are offered. There’s the base Prime model for RM109,800, while the higher-end Premium variant is priced at RM123,800. To sweeten the deal, the first 3,000 customers will also get a RM4,000 rebate on the e.MAS 7, bringing down the prices to RM105,900 and RM119,800 for the Prime and Premium models respectively.
Naturally, the range-topping Premium version of the e.MAS 7 has all the bells and whistles. These include a larger 60.22kWh battery that can provide a range of up to 410km – as measured on the stringent WLTP cycle – support for 100kW DC charging, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels.
As for the more affordable e.MAS 7 Prime, it features a smaller 49.52kWh battery, offering up to 345km of WLTP range on a single charge. DC charging has also been slightly lowered to 80kW, though AC charging remains at 11kW, similar to the Premium model. Aside from that, it sports 18-inch wheels too.
Beyond these differences, both variants of the e.MAS 7 are powered by the same front-mounted electric motor that produces 160kW (218PS) and 320Nm of torque. This is good for a 0-100kmph time of only 6.9 seconds to a top speed of 175kmph. Oh, ADAS is also standard equipment, which is great.
If you’re keen to book the Proton e.MAS 7, you can do so through the Proton e.MAS app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery. Priced at RM109,800 and RM123,800 for the Prime and Premium models respectively, and it’s worth noting that the first 3,000 customers can enjoy a RM4,000 rebate on the EV.
