OPPO’s ColorOS 15 – Packed With AI, Smooth UX, Easy Sharing With iPhone
December 24, 2024 Andrew Cheng

OPPO has made leaps and bounds in the software department with ColorOS 15, and we thoroughly enjoyed its software experience in our review of the OPPO Find X8 Pro. Not only is it packed with a slew of useful AI tools, ColorOS 15 also offers a smooth user experience. Oh, it enables easy file sharing with iPhones too, thanks to the new Touch to Share feature.

The Touch to Share feature of ColorOS 15 is really quite intriguing. As its name suggests, it lets any OPPO phones running on ColorOS 15 to easily share pictures to an iPhone by tapping the two phones together. This is done with the help of OPPO’s O+ Connect app for iPhone, and in many ways, Touch to Share feels almost like having AirDrop on an Android phone.

Next, we have the slew of AI-powered features in ColorOS 15, and our favourite is definitely AI Eraser. It’s an AI photo editing tool, and as its name suggests, it allows users to select any subject to remove from an image. The missing details will be filled in by generative AI, and the whole editing process is very seamless (and fast). Did we mention there’s also an Unblur AI feature to…well, sharpen blur photos?

Another AI feature found within ColorOS 15 that is worth highlighting is Circle to Search, which is a joint effort between OPPO and Google. It can be activated with just a long press of the home button or navigation bar, and users can then circle on any on-screen subject that they want to get more information on. Simply put, Circle to Search is really a more convenient way to access Google Lens quickly.

What if you want AI-powered writing tools instead? Well, ColorOS 15 offers just that. Whether you want to summarise, write, edit, format, transcribe, or translate any text, the software can do all of these.

Last but not least is the overall smoothness of ColorOS 15. The whole operating system feels lightweight and responsive, which is possible with OPPO’s Trinity Engine and Luminous Rendering Engine. These two features work in tandem to increase overall system smoothness and response speed.

Whether it’s launching one app after another or multitasking with a ton of different apps, the smoothness of ColorOS 15 is just…tangible. OPPO’s goal is to “redefine the smoothness experience of Android,” and it accomplished just that with ColorOS 15. Just head on to any OPPO authorised store near you and try out the software for yourself; you’ll definitely feel the smoothness.

Many brands don’t put much emphasis on the software experience of their smartphones, and it’s great to see OPPO pouring quite a bit of effort to improve in this often overlooked aspect of a smartphone’s user experience. ColorOS 15 is a testament to how much OPPO has improved its version of Android, and we reckon future versions of the software will be even better.
