The Omoda C9 by Jaecoo was launched in Malaysia just last week, and it’s easily one of the most well-equipped SUVs at this price point. Today, the first locally assembled C9 has rolled off the carmaker’s Shah Alam production line, and Jaecoo says the premium model is “well within its timeline to begin deliveries by January 2025.”

“We are very happy with the encouraging response for our C9 premium off-road SUV coupé and ready to deliver on the Malaysian market’s demands. As a brand that is invested for the long-term, we are equally dedicated to taking care of our customers throughout their ownership journey with us. Looking ahead, Jaecoo continues to keep our finger on the pulse to ensure we deliver best-in-class vehicles and services that suit the market’s current needs,” said the Vice President of Jaecoo Malaysia, Emily Lek.

To recap, two variants of the Omoda C9 are offered in Malaysia. The base 2WD model is priced at RM168,800, while the AWD version goes for RM188,800. For that kind of money, the C9 has a number of high-end features like Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension, 540-degree camera, and “Level 2.5” ADAS.

Under the hood of the SUV is a beefy 2.0L turbo engine that outputs 261PS and 400Nm of torque; drive is sent to the front or all four wheels through an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This is quite different from the dual-clutch gearbox found in the China market.

Other specifications of the Omoda C9 for the Malaysian market include 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with 245/50 Michelin e-Primacy tyres – including the spare wheel – a 14-speaker Sony audio system, a panoramic sunroof, as well as a three-cartridge fragrance system for the AWD model. Yes, you can select from three different scents: Natural, Cure, and Sport.

The Omoda C9 by Jaecoo is now available for booking in Malaysia at RM168,800 and RM188,800 for the 2WD and AWD models respectively. Deliveries of the C9 will start in January 2025 for the higher-end AWD model, while the 2WD variant will arrive quite a bit later in May to June 2025.
