MSI Claw 8 AI+ & Claw 7 AI+ Official – Intel Lunar Lake Handheld Gaming PCs From $799

Now this is a surprise. Despite earlier reports that the MSI Claw 8 AI+ will only be released sometime in 2025, the new handheld gaming PC is actually available for pre-order now in selected markets. On top of that, the more compact MSI Claw 7 AI+ has also been announced, which is closer in size to the original MSI Claw.

The biggest upgrade to the Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ is the Intel Lunar Lake chip; more specifically, the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. The integrated GPU is an Intel Arc 140V, and both handhelds feature 32GB LPDDR5X-8533 RAM, PCIe Gen4 SSD, and an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 or 7-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display with 120Hz refresh rate and support for variable refresh rate.

In terms of battery life – which was one of the pain points of the original Claw – the Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ come with 80Wh and 54.5Wh batteries respectively. While no battery life estimates were given for the two models, they should be able to provide longer use time on a single charge, thanks to the larger capacities and power efficiency of the new Lunar Lake chip.

The MSI Claw 7 AI+ and MSI Claw 8 AI+ are now available for pre-order in selected markets, including the US, from $799 (about RM3,540) and $899 (approximately RM3,985) respectively. No word yet on the Malaysian availability of the two handhelds, though we reckon they will be launched here in due time.
