In conjunction with the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, a new update has been rolled out for the PS5 that adds the classic PS1 boot screen. This is offered as themes for the console, which spans from the PS4 to the aforementioned PS1.

Unfortunately, it appears that these themes for the PS5 will only be offered for a limited time, as outlined by PlayStation in the settings page. Anyway, the themes allow you to experience the appearance and sound of the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, or even a special 30th Anniversary theme.

So what do the different PS5 themes change? Well, for starters, the wallpaper will be different based on the option selected. Aside from that, the system sound will also be changed to reflect the selected theme, though the boot screen will always be the classic PS1 theme.

It remains to be seen exactly how long the PS5 themes will be offered, so enjoy them while you still can. Hopefully, PlayStation will add it as a permanent feature in the future. Players (myself included) seem to love this surprise new feature to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary.
