After the local preview of the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009 a couple of months ago, the two EVs will finally be launched here in Malaysia on 6 December! The two models will officially mark the Chinese carmaker’s entry to the Malaysian market, and both of them look to be very promising EVs.
As previously revealed by Sentinel Automotive, Zeekr’s partner in Malaysia, the Zeekr X will be priced below the RM180,000 price point, which is really quite enticing for a premium EV. Two variants are set to be offered: there’s the base Premium, and the faster Flagship AWD. The Premium has a rear-mounted motor that does 200kW (272PS) and 343Nm of torque, good for a 0-100kmph time of 5.6 seconds.
As for the Flagship AWD, it has a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 315kW (428PS) and 543Nm of torque. This setup allows the range-topping variant to sprint from 0-100kmph in only 3.8 seconds.
Performance aside, the Zeekr X also has a 66kWh battery that can provide up to 440km of range (measured on the stringent WLTP cycle) for the Premium variant. The Flagship AWD model, on the other hand, has a slightly lower range of up to 420km on a single charge. Not surprising, given its higher performance.
In terms of charging speeds, both the Premium and Flagship AWD Zeekr X feature 150kW DC charging, so the EV can be charged up from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. AC charging is rated at 7.2kW for the Premium model, while the Flagship AWD trim gets faster 11kW AC charging.
As for the larger Zeekr 009, the electric luxury MPV is said to retail below RM370,000. For the sake of comparison, the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire – the 009’s main competition – retail at RM538,000 and RM438,000 respectively; that’s quite a noteworthy price difference.
Two variants of the Zeekr 009 will be introduced in Malaysia, which are the Luxury and Ultra Luxury. The main difference between the two models is the seating arrangement for the third row; the Luxury sits three at the last row, while the Ultra Luxury has two seats instead. Regardless of which variant you get, both feature an air suspension system.
In terms of powertrain, the Zeekr 009 has a dual-motor setup with a combined output of 450kW (612PS) and 693Nm of torque for a rather quick 0-100kmph time of 4.5 seconds. It also has a large 116kWh battery, good for a WLTP range of up to 582km. As for charging speeds, the 009 supports 150kW DC charging and 11kW AC charging.
To recap, the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009 will be launched in Malaysia this Friday on 6 December, and they are estimated to retail below the RM180,000 and RM370,000 price points respectively. We’ll find out the finalised prices of the two EVs very, very soon.
