The founder of Maxis, Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan, has passed away today on 28 November at 86 years old. His passing was confirmed by his investment company, Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd through a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the demise of our chairman, Mr. Ananda Krishnan Tatparanandam, who passed away peacefully on 28 November 2024. He has made significant contributions to nation building and the corporate world; and his philanthropic initiatives have touched many lives.”
“We humbly ask that the family’s wishes to mourn in private be respected,” said the company in the statement.
Aside from Maxis, the billionaire tycoon – who has an estimated net worth of $5.1 billion (about RM22.7 billion) – was also involved in the oil and gas industry. He also founded Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd with significant shareholdings in TGV Cinemas.
Ananda is known for maintaining a low profile throughout his life, and he leaves behind his wife and three children.
