Apple has revealed 45 apps and games that have been selected as finalists for its annual App Store Awards, and what caught our eye is Zenless Zone Zero. More specifically, Hoyoverse’s latest title is in the running to win the iPhone Game of the Year 2024 award, and it is competing against two other titles.
Going against Zenless for the iPhone Game of the Year award are AFK Journey and WereCleaner, two equally popular mobile games. Of course, all three games chosen as finalists for the award are free-to-play titles, though Zenless does have its own in-game purchases. After all, it’s a live service game with gacha elements.
Beyond the iPhone, there are also Game of the Year titles for other categories, including iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and Apple Arcade. Some of the finalists for these platforms include Assassin’s Creed Mirage (iPad), Stray (Mac), Sonic Dream Team (Apple Arcade), and Vacation Simulator (Vision Pro).
The full list of apps and games nominated for the 2024 App Store Awards can be found on Apple’s official website. Personally, we think Zenless Zone Zero has a good chance of winning the iPhone Game of the Year award, given that Hoyoverse’s previous titles (Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact) have won the title.
