Casio’s First Smart Ring Is a Tiny Retro Digital Watch
November 18, 2024 Andrew Cheng

It seems like more brands are releasing smart rings, though Casio’s take on the wearable is more of a “ring watch,” as the Japanese company puts it. The Casio CRW-001-1JR – yes, it’s a bit of a mouthful – will be available in Japan sometime in December, and as its name suggests, it’s essentially a tiny digital watch.

The retro-looking Casio ring watch is released to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary. Of course, the ring has all the functionalities of a typical digital watch, including an LCD screen that can display hours, minutes, and seconds; a stopwatch; a light for the screen; and even an alarm function that will flash the display.

In terms of battery life, the built-in battery of the ring watch offers up to two years of use before it needs replacing. Casio says that the battery is easily replaceable as well, and it’s worth noting that the ring watch is also waterproof.

To recap, the Casio CRW-001-1JR will go on sale in Japan next month in December 2024 for 19,800 Japanese yen; that comes up to about RM570. It remains to be seen if the ring watch will be sold in other markets, including Malaysia.
