Wizards of the Coast is releasing Magic: The Gathering’s latest set, Foundations, for tabletop today. Just as its name suggests, Foundations is mainly catered to new players – all the cards released in this set are Standard legal until 2029.
Of course, Foundations also have something for long-time Magic fans with some iconic reprints. These include Llanowar Elves – this card can also be obtained in the sleek new Japan Showcase treatment, which is only available in Collector Boosters – Omniscience, and of course, Doubling Season.
Also unique to Foundations is the introduction of the Beginner Box. It comes with “all the essentials for a quintessential Magic experience,” as Wizards puts it, including 10 themed Jumpstart decks, two gameboard playmats, and of course, a reference guide booklet to get new players started.
Magic: The Gathering’s Foundations set can now be purchased at your local game store. It is offered in the aforementioned Beginner Boxes, Starter Collections, Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Foundations Jumpstart Boosters, Prerelease Packs, and Bundles. Suffice to say there are plenty of Foundations products to choose from.
