Yamaha Y16ZR 6MRO Launched in Malaysia – Limited to 3k Units for RM13,668
November 13, 2024 Andrew Cheng

To celebrate the roll out of its sixth million motorcycle in Malaysia, Hong Leong Yamaha introduced the Yamaha Y16ZR 6MRO on our shores; yes, the latter stands for 6 Millionth Roll Out. While it’s mechanically similar to the regular Y16ZR, the 6MRO model is limited to only 3,000 units, and each of them are also serialised with a special 6MRO badge.

Of course, that also means the Y16ZR 6MRO is more costly than the standard model. Priced at RM13,668 – excluding insurance, road tax, and registration fees – it costs exactly RM2,270 more than the regular Y16ZR, which goes for RM11,398. That being said, you do get more goodies for your money with the 6MRO edition.

Not only does the Y16ZR 6MRO feature a unique paint scheme with different colours for the left and right sides of the motorcycle, it also has a glow-in-the-dark emblem; this is said to be a first on a Yamaha bike. On top of that, the Y16ZR 6MRO is bundled with several items too, including a special edition Tekhne open face helmet, a diecast model of the bike itself, a serialised metal card certificate, and a matching Casio G-Shock watch.

Mechanically, the Y16ZR 6MRO is still powered by a 155cc single-cylinder engine (liquid-cooled) with VVA that outputs 13.2kW (17.7hp) and 14.4Nm of torque. The mill is paired to a six-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch, while brakes are handled by hydraulic single disc on the front (with ABS) and rear. Suspension setup remains the same with telescopic fork on the front and preload-adjustable monoshock on the rear.

The Yamaha Y16ZR 6MRO is now available for purchase in Malaysia at all authorised Yamaha dealers nationwide. To recap, the limited edition bike is priced at RM13,668 excluding insurance and road tax, so expect to pay more for the Y16ZR 6MRO at the dealership.
