Omoda C9 by Jaecoo Public Viewing Happening at 1 Utama Until 3 November
November 1, 2024 Andrew Cheng

The Omoda C9 by Jaecoo is now available for viewing (and even test drive) at the New Wing of 1 Utama until 3 November. Touted as an SUV coupe – thanks to its sloping roofline – the C9 is parked under the Jaecoo brand instead of Chery as it is a more premium offering. That means the SUV will be sold at Jaecoo dealerships and not Chery.

With estimated pricing between RM185,000 for the 2WD model to RM195,000 for the higher-end AWD version, the locally assembled C9 is certainly positioned as a premium offering. But for that kind of money, the SUV has excellent value proposition, sporting high-end features like Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension, 540-degree camera, and “Level 2.5” ADAS.

Under the hood of the C9 is a beefy 2.0L turbo engine that outputs 261PS and 400Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front or all four wheels through an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This is quite different from the dual-clutch gearbox found in the China market.

Other specifications of the C9 include 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped with 245/50 Michelin e-Primacy tyres – including the spare wheel! – a 14-speaker Sony audio system, a panoramic sunroof, as well as a three-cartridge fragrance system. Yes, you can select from three different scents: Natural, Cure, and…Sport.

The Omoda C9 by Jaecoo is expected to be launched sometime in December next month with deliveries starting in early 2025. It’s a very well-equipped five-seater SUV, and it will be interesting to see what the final prices will be come December. As mentioned, it is estimated to be priced between RM185,000 to RM195,000 for the 2WD and AWD models respectively.
